In 2009, the U.S. Mint issues four different one-cent coins in recognition of President Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday and the 100th anniversary of the first issuance of the Lincoln penny. The obverse (heads) side will continue to bear the familiar likeness of President Lincoln currently on the one-cent coin; the reverse will reflect four different designs. The first will show Lincoln's birth and early childhood in Kentucky; the second displays a young Lincoln in Indiana; the third represents his life in Illinois as a budding politician; and the fourth recognizes his presidency.
